GUWAHATI Oct. 30. A ULFA militant was killed in an encounter with police near the Secretariat and not very far from the private residence of the Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi, this afternoon. Ripun Bora, Minister of State and official spokesman of the Government, said two ULFA men came to collect money from one Hafijur Rahman. The police, who had been tipped off, were lying in wait and on seeing them, the militants opened fire. In the encounter, one militant, Spid Hazarika, was killed but the other escaped.
