Maintenance and renovation work at the Chief Minister's official residence in the winter capital has been completed the official residential complex on the scenic Wazarat Road. The complex has over the years come to be known by the name of former Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah. Other Ministers would also reside in he heavily-guarded complex. The former Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah, had vacated the complex and shifted to his palatial residence on the outskirts of the city at Batindi. The security in and around the Civil Secretariat, where all the offices are located has also been strengthened. The MLAs hostel would also have tight security.Officials said there was a need for increased security, following the brazen terrorist strikes in the city, such as the one on the Raghunath temple, hardly metres away from the Chief Minister's residence. In the last six months, Jammu has witnessed terrorist attacks at Rajiv Nagar and Kaluchak, in which, at least 50 people were killed. The threat perception in the city had increased over the years.
