The Foreign Office spokesman said the meeting with the Prime Minister lasted 30 minutes during which there was an exchange of views on the political situation in Afghanistan. The talks focused on the current political and security situation in that country apart from the progress in economic reconstruction. Talking to reporters, Mr. Abdullah said he was grateful to India for turning the $100 million loan into a grant. He said Indian reconstruction projects in Afghanistan were doing well and that his country's future was bright. The Foreign Minister, who stated that there was an identity of approach to regional issues, hoped that the region would be free of terrorism in future. For his part, Mr. Sinha, stated that India and Afghanistan were partners in the war against terrorism and referred to New Delhi's recent decision to turn the $100 million loan into a grant.
