Indians return with rich haul

Mumbai Nov. 5. The Indian shuttlers had a field day winning as many as eleven gold, 12 silver and five bronze medals in individual events in almost all categories at the World Masters Games held in Melbourne (Australia) recently.

According to information received here on Tuesday, over 1,000 shuttlers from 93 countries, including former World champion Misbun Sidek of Indonesia, took part in the Games.

The gold medal winners were Shirish Nadkarni, Vishwajeet Bhatnagar, Hubert Miranda, Sanjeev Patki, Padmini Desai, Gautam Ashra, Gopal Moorjani, Bhushan Akut, Amol Shah, Amod Tilak, Mukund Palwankar, Geroge Thomas, R. Kochar and Arun Dhound.

The silver medallists were Mahesh Aras, Milind Dhume, Milind Ghate, Ajit Nair, Suhas Nadkarni, Ajit Desai, Sunil Wagh, B. Akut, A. Tilak, Vikram Bhasin and Monica Bhonwal.

The five shuttlers who won the bronze include H. Miranda, G. Moorjani, M. Aras, M. Dhune, A. Nair and Ajit Kudwa. — PTI
