Patel drives to AZNKC title

MUMBAI NOV. 5. Rajiv Patel of Baroda, displaying control and calmness, drove away with the Asian Zone National Karting Championship (AZNKC) title at Mumbai's The Acres Club racetrack on Sunday after a thrilling MRF-MAI Formula Mondiale fourth round.

The Indian driver zoomed to an early lead, and then showed his class by maintaining it to the end of the 35-lap race. Ma Quing Hua of China, who remained on Rajiv's tail throughout and around a few bends almost overtook the leader, had to settle for the second position.

IKC Intermediate: 1. Saravanan T 7:14.308; 2. Sharan Parekh 7:18:865; 3. Ashwin Sunder 7:20:525.

IKC Seniors: 1. Murtuza Bootwala 9:14:677; 2. Yuvraj Chavan 9:15:452; 3. Hrishikesh Mundgi 9:16:824.

INKC: 1. Surjeet Saini 9:41:860; 2. Irfan Sherif 9:42:545; 3. Rajiv Patel 9:42:745.
