IMPHAL. NOV. 6. Citing Manipur's success as the reason, the All India Football Federation president Mr. Priya Ranjan Das Munshi said that the new law of allowing the State associations' requisition of `native' players for the senior National championship will continue in the coming years. The AIFF president, who was present for the 58th Santosh Trophy final here on Tuesday, said that the new `policy' adopted by national governing body helps the states show their real strength and hence the utility of the new law. The next host of the tournament will be decided in the next governing body meeting of the AIFF he said adding that states like Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and Bengal have expressed their desire to host the next year's meet. Project to develop youth Among the other announcements that the AIFF president made was that the federation, in order to sustain the youth development project is formulating a `core group' of young talents in the age-group category. Encouraged by India's recent success in the age-group tournaments - where the Indian under-17 and under-20 teams reached the quarterfinals of the respective AFC meets - the AIFF has embarked on the project of the sustaining the young talents in a more constructive manner keeping Athens Olympics and the 2006 World Cup in Germany as targets. The `core group' will be finalized in January while in the intervening period India's English coach Stephen Constantine will be working with the under-17 squad that toured UAE, which will be taken as the nucleus. Disciplinary measures The president also informed the AIFF disciplinary committee meeting at New Delhi on Saturday will take up the issue of the disciplinary measures announced against five Tamil Nadu players and one Bengal player and assistant coach, by the 58th Santosh Trophy tournament committee here. The committee will go through the reports of the match commissioner and the concerned referees and will be arriving at the decisions before the ensuing National Football League, which starts at Goa on November 15. The issue of Services refusing to accept the medals protesting the referee's decision after losing the first semi-final against Kerala here, will also be taken up in the meeting, he said.
