The District Medical Officer, K. N. Omana, said the medical authorities were yet to get the test results of the blood serum and crebrospinal fluid, required to confirm meningitis. These were sent to Pune for confirmation. The medical college team from Thiruvananthapuram had also collected samples from here, Dr. Omana said. She added that the vector studies had indicated the growing mosquito swarms in the city as carriers of dengue fever and encephalitis. According to Dr. Omana, meningitis cases were largely reported from Paravur and Vadavukode but now these were being reported in the Corporation area too. ``We have received reports of suspected admission of meningitis from Kollencherry and Piravom too,'' she said. Today there were two new cases in the District General Hospital, one in the Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital and four in Paravoor General Hospital.
