Widjaja, the world No. 91, took just over an hour to beat her opponent, who committed nine double faults and a series of long shots in their second round singles match in the $110,000 tournament at the Dusit Resort Hotel in Pattaya, Thailand. ``I was happy to win today as I did not play 100 per cent like I did on Wednesday,'' said the 17-year-old Indonesian. ``I did not feel confident with my ground strokes but my serves helped me a lot today.'' Widjaja, the 2001 Wimbledon junior champion, on Tuesday had similarly profited from her adversary's errors in scoring an upset 6-1, 6-1 victory over Martina Sucha of Slovakia. On Wednesday, Widjaja took a 5-3 lead in the first set. But she later misplayed a volley with a backhand to the net to allow Kleinova to get back into the contest. In the 10th game, Widjaja set up a triple break point by firing a forehand shot past Kleinova, and finally wrapped up the set when her Czech rival served a double fault. In the second set, the Indonesian took control as Kleinova struggled to keep her shots inside the lines. The match ended when the Czech delivered a backhand shot which went too long. Widjaja next faces Japan's Shinobu Asagoe, who defeated Anastassia Rodionova of Russia 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
The results: Lina Krasnoroutskaya bt Magdalena Grzybowska 6-1, 6-3; Angelique Widjaja bt Sandra Kleinova 6-4, 6-1; Shinobu Asagoe bt Anastassia Rodionova 4-6, 6-2, 6-3; Silvija Talaja bt Stephanie Cohen Aloro 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Earlier results: Second round: Tatiana Panova bt Tatiana Poutchek 6-4, 6-1; Tamarine Tanasugarn bt Akiko Morigami 7-5, 7-6 (8-6); Andrianna Serra Zanetti bt Ludmila Cervanova 7-5, 6-4; Cho Yoon-Jeong bt Denisa Chladkova 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). First round: Lina Krasnoroutskaya bt Henrieta Nagyova 7-6 (7-5), 6-2; Angelique Widjaja bt Martina Sucha 6-1, 6-1. AP
