Talking to presspersons at Adoor today, Mr. Muraleedharan said many such criticisms by the ruling party leaders were often found to have been publicity-oriented and it was high time to stop it in the larger interest of the smooth functioning of the Government. Referring to the Kerala Congress(B) leader, R. Balakrishna Pillai's reported critical comments on the Antony Government, the KPCC(I) chief said the former was supposed to clarify his stand on the issue at the UDF meeting to be held on November 21. To another question, Mr. Muraleedharan said there was no issue between himself and the Congress MP, V. M. Sudheeran, who had reportedly criticised the Government move to lease out certain Guest Houses to private parties. However, while addressing the Congress leadership camp organised by the District Congress Committee later, Mr. Muraleedharan said those who publicly criticised the Government decision to lease out certain loss-making Guest Houses to non-resident Keralite business groups could have better contacted the Chief Minister before making such irresponsible statements. All of them had direct access to Mr. Antony and they could have easily avoided such publicity-oriented criticisms, he added. ``It was unfortunate that certain party leaders were often found to have been `surpassing' even the Opposition leader, V. S. Achuthanandan, while blasting the Government,'' Mr. Muraleedharan alleged. Criticising the alleged CPI(M) intolerance towards the SNDP Yogam activities, Mr. Muraleedharan said it was not at all a healthy trend for the political parties to interfere in the organisational matters of social organisations such as the SNDP and the NSS. According to him, the late Congress leaders, R. Sankar and Kaltahil Velayudhan Nair, were also leaders of the SNDP and the NSS repectively and the party had never interfered in their organisational activities. He said it was high time the CPI(M) realised the changes taking place the world over. Even the Communist China had taken these changes in its right spirit by accepting the relevance of the so-called capitalist forces. The KPCC president reiterated his claim that there was no difference of opinion in the UDF on the police policy of the Antony Government. However, he said the Government should rectify the flaws in the implementation of its police policy at the earliest. Mr. Muraleedharan said the law and order situation in the State had improved a lot ever since the UDF assumed office 17 months ago. The success of the UDF Government's police policy was well-reflected in Kannur, he said.
