Indians return with 22 medals

BANGALORE Nov. 12. Indian men finished with 22 medals (three gold, nine silver and 10 bronze) to be placed 11th in the eighth Fespic Games held in Busan, South Korea, early this month.

Karantaka's R.T. Prasanna Kumar, competing in the F 42 category high jump and javelin throw, picked up two silver medals. The gold winners for India were Yadvendra Vashishta of U.P. in the F 44 shot put, Devendra of Rajasthan in the F 46 javelin throw and Somnath Malo of West Bengal in the F 43 high jump.

Silver winners: Anthony Das Periera (Mah, F 54 discus and javelin), Nir Bahadur Gurang (Mah, F 53 discus and javelin), Prabir Sarkar (WB, F 42 long jump), S. Rajarathinam (TN, F 46 triple jump) and J. Ranjith Kumar (TN, F 56 discus).

Bronze winners: C.Y. Reddy (Mah, F 54 javelin), Mangat Manvir Singh (Pun, F 46 discus and shot put), G. Venkataravanappa (Kar, F 56 javelin), Syamala Raju (Mah, F 54 discus), Nir Bahadur Gurang (Mah, F 53 shot put), T. Venkatesan (TN, F 57 javelin), S. Rajarathinam (TN, F 46 long jump), Yadvendra Vashista (UP, F 44 discus) and Girraj (Har, F 46 800m).
