Jaskirat, Karan card day's best

By Our Sports Reporter

BANGALORE Nov. 19. The transition, from the Eagleton Golf Course to the Karnataka Golf Association Course, took its toll on the winner there Ranjit Singh along with a number of other young players. Finding the greens tougher and the playing conditions harsher, the best cards of the day were two over 74 by Jaskirat Singh Dullet and Karan Talwar. The latter had skipped the Eagleton event due to school commitments.

As expected, it was from the A group that the best cards came in. Jaskirat, who started off brilliantly scoring birdies on the first, second and fifth holes, felt the pressure making a double bogey on the sixth. The eighth and ninth also were bad holes with Jaskirat only managing bogeys. The back nine also had two birdies and three bogeys and he finally ended with a score of 74.

Karan Talwar from Delhi was in a good position at the 14th hole, being two under with five holes to go. But the youngster learnt the hard way that golf can be a cruel game as he bogeyed that hole and then had the same fate on the last three holes to end up with a score of 74.

Akshay Bhutta and Sagar Bhatia had cards of 77 each and Anirudh Goyal along with Muthu Kumar of KGA followed them with cards of 77 apiece.

In category B (13 to 15 years), Gaganjeet Bhullar jointly led the pack with a card of seven over 79. Siddharth Srinivasan of Coimbatore Golf Club was the other youngster with an identical score. Ajeetesh Sandhu and Kunal Balharawere were in pursuit with scores of 81 each.

Amanjyot Singh of Jaipur had some tense moments while waiting for his group mates to surrender their cards. Amanjyot, who led with a score of ten over 82, had heard that Saurabh Bhaduri was well poised with a score of seven over at the 14th but Saurabh quadruple bogeyed the 16th and 17th and double bogeyed the 18th to drop to third position. Siddharth Seth of Delhi was in second position.

The results:

Category A (15 to 17 years): Jaskirat Dullet, Karan Talwar (74 each), Akshay Bhutta, Sagar Bhatia (75 each), Anirudh Goyal, Muthu Kumar (77 each), Amrith Joseph, Anibhan Lahiri and Navtez Singh (78 each), Gaganjeet Bhullar, Siddharth Srinivasan (79 each).

Category B (13 to 15 years): Gaganjeet Bhullar, Siddharth Srinivasan (79 each), Ajeetesh Sandhu, Kunal Balhara (81 each), Rishabh Shirgaonkar (85), Fatehbir Dhanwal (86), Zoravar Singh (87).

Category C (11 to 13 years): Amanjyot Singh (82), Siddharth Seth (85), Saurabh Bhaduri (87), Rahul Bakshi (88), Ayyapa Vemulkar (92).
