AU V-C clarifies

VISAKHAPATNAM NOV. 19. In response to the discussion in the State Assembly on Monday on the prevailing situation on the Andhra University campus, the Vice-Chancellor, Y.C. Simhadri, on Tuesday clarified that he had utmost respect for national leaders like Gandhiji, Nehru, Ambedkar, Jagjivan Ram and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.

``I had never disrespected the leaders or ordered removal of their portraits in the university,'' he said and explained that after the renovation of the buildings on the campus, the portaits of Gandhiji, Nehru and Swami Vivekananda were added to the existing portraits of Ambedkar, Jagjivan Ram and Mahatma Phule, and prominently displayed in the newly constructed reading room of the Nagarjuna hostel.
