Amid allegations of rigging and coercion, Mr. Hussian, a former Minister, received 167 out of 327 votes polled, higher than his nearest rival Liaqat Baluch of the MMA, a coalition of Islamic parties, who got 80 votes. The former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto's Pakistan Peoples Party nominee, Atizaz Asan, secured 71 votes.
