The meeting, which lasted for over three hours, was called to discuss the future strategy of talks with the Kashmir Committee in the wake of Mr. Malik's recent charge that Mr. Jethmalani was adopting double standards. The Executive, barring Mr. Malik, favoured continuing talks with the Committee leading to a walkout by Mr. Malik. The sources said Mr. Malik tried in vain to impress upon his colleagues to realise the ``ulterior motives'' of the Committee. The meeting discussed the changing scenario in the State following the change of Government. In a statement after the meeting, the Hurriyat said its stand about the functioning of the local police was vindicated following the revelations by a counter-insurgent-turned-National Conference Legislative Council member, Javid Hussain Shah.
