President's gesture

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI NOV. 27. The President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, has decided to cancel the Iftar party this year and instead use the money for the welfare of inmates of orphanages so that the poor and needy were helped during the holy month of Ramzan, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan release here today.

While extending his greetings to fellow countrymen during the holy month of Ramzan, the President expressed the hope that it would lead to "peace, prosperity and harmony in the country and unity of minds of our people.''
