'Eelam option open'

By V.S. Sambandan

COLOMBO NOV. 27. Despite calls from the international community for a complete renunciation of a separate Tamil Eelam, the LTTE leader, V. Prabakaran, today remained unchanged that there was "no alternative'' to secession if Colombo rejected his demand for substantial regional autonomy.

In a 19-minute speech broadcast by the rebel Voice of Tigers radio, Mr. Prabakaran expressed satisfaction on the progress of the peace talks and said that it was his "deepest desire'' that the negotiations should succeed.
