Built with an investment of Rs. 210 crores, Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata, will provide the most advanced healthcare facilities in over 50 medical specialties. It will supplement the healthcare infrastructure of not only East and North-East India but also holds the promise to become the central healthcare hub for Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Bhutan. The hospital will be fully commissioned in January 2003. During the first half, the group opened Apollo DBC centre in Chennai in association with DBC International of Finland. Documentation Based Care (DBC) is a path breaking medical advancement and a revolutionary concept resulting from over 20 years of global scientific research, patented by Dr. Simo Taimela of Finland. Apollo Hospitals also expanded its bed capacity during the 12 months by adding 450 beds across the group.
