Letters to the Editor
Sir, I think the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, is committing a grave impropriety by daring Pakistan to fight a fourth direct war with India. An election campaign is neither the occasion, nor time for throwing such jingoistic challenges. Mr.Advani, for all his aggressive enthusiasm to engage in a face-to-face war with Pakistan, should realise that he cannot turn India into a bull-fighting arena. Bal Patil, Mumbai Sir, We should not forget that Kargil cost us Rs. 7,000 crores. We should learn from China how to keep peace with neighbours and still get the most-favoured nation status from the U.S. without sycophantic bows. China keeps a decent distance from every one including the U.S. as it knows that titles, awards are for business purposes. Let us learn from China what peaceful friendship, true building of citizens and true national unity are. P.V. Madhu Secunderabad
