Bashir Ahmad Wani of Homshalibug village gave up after the troops waited patiently outside the mosque at Reshigund village, about 90 km from here. The peaceful end to the crisis was hailed by the people of the village who played a key role in the surrender of the militant. Soon after Bashir's surrender, the troops questioned him and a search operation has been launched at his disclosure apparently to nab his accomplices. The search was still on. The militant took refuge in the mosque on Monday when an Army column moved to the village to flush militants out after getting specific information about their presence in a house.
