'I'm Modi's advocate'

Vadodara Dec. 7. Plunging into the campaign trail in Gujarat for the December 12 Assembly elections, the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, today described himself as an advocate of the Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, holding a brief for him.

Addressing an election meeting here, he said, ``I don't think one needs to speak after Narendra Bhai's speech. But I am his advocate and it is my duty to hold brief for him.''

However, Mr. Vajpayee also mildly rebuked Mr. Modi for leaving the meeting venue before he could speak. ``He (Modi) is a candidate and therefore he spoke first. He doesn't want to listen to his advocate. Had he stayed back, I would have given him a good round of arguments.'' — PTI
