Sir, Achin Vanaik's article on the development of nuclear weapons capability by North Korea (Dec. 5) is a matter of fact analysis of the issue. When one remembers the hysterical outrage Vanaik expressed about India's nuclear testing, with adjectives such as "jingoistic", "militaristic" and "right wing". the North Korean developments seem, by contrast, as nothing more than an interesting game being played out on the peninsula. What about all the concerns regarding safety, nuclear escalation, cost and the sheer morality of possessing weapons of mass destruction? Varun Shekhar, Toronto, Canada
