Be magnanimous

Sir, — While the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, has welcomed Indian cricket players to play in Pakistan, the Indian Government has rejected the proposal outright. Not only has Gen. Musharraf suggested the idea of cricket being played between India and Pakistan, but has also praised Sachin Tendulkar in abundance.

This is the right time to begin a new era of friendship and cooperation with cricket as the trigger. The Indian Government should give serious thought to reviving sports activities between the two countries. There is no meaning in complaining about trivial things. Let us be magnanimous and show a friendly attitude.

V.S. Venkatavaradan,

Salem
