Letters to the Editor
Sir The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, referred to the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, while criticising her, by using some harsh words as "our daughter-in-law" (news item of Dec. 10). He accused her of trying to behave like the "mother-in-law". But Mr. Vajpayee should understand that the in-laws equation has changed completely over time. Perhaps, he has not been watching the soap operas being telecast these days where daughters-in-law in their new `avatar' are more aggressive. Also, Mr. Vajpayee should be reminded that the trend of using intemperate language was set in motion by his own partymen and members of the Sangh Parivar. M.A.H. Imran, Hyderabad
