He called upon captains of the industry to explore joint ventures in areas such as software, telecom, and paper. Mr. Hanevold said there was bright scope for starting joint ventures and having technical collaboration with companies in Karnataka, particularly those in Bangalore. Norwegian companies were interested in joint ventures in information technology and biotechnology companies in Bangalore. He said there was also scope for joint ventures in deep-sea oil exploration and hydel power generation. The Commercial Counsellor of Norway in New Delhi, Theis Ulriksen, explained the opportunities for Indian companies choosing to have tie-ups with Norwegian firms. Mr. Hanevold and Mr. Ulriksen are here to explore the possibility of investment and business opportunities.
