The rupee also retained a firm undertone because of the dollar's weakness against other major currencies, falling to over five month lows against the euro, bankers said. The rupee scaled the current calendar year peak on Tuesday at 48.1500/1550 on the back of persistent strong trade inflows. The Reserve Bank of India fixed the reference rate for the dollar at Rs. 48.18 and the single European unit at Rs. 49.04. PTI
