At a meeting here on Saturday, the PCMB resolved to "obey the recent Supreme Court judgment in letter and spirit and thereby take necessary course of action,'' that included conduct of entrance test for Engineering, Medical, Pharmacy, MCA, B.Ed, M.Sc and other courses. The meeting was attended among others by Mohd. Vizarat Rasool Khan, chief promoter of the Shadan group of institutions and advisor to PCMB, Afzal Mohammed, former Vice-Chancellor of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University and Mohd. Kareemullah Khan, chairman of PCMB. It has decided to prescribe the fee to each of these courses which will not be either less or more than 25 per cent of the Government's prescribed fee as the case may be in engineering, pharmacy, MBA and MCA, etc. However, for all courses, the fee shall be fixed keeping in view the expenditure involved in payment of salaries, consumables, equipment, library, stationary, telephone and electricity charges, "as directed by the Supreme Court.'' The PCMB said it would make admissions strictly in order of merit from among the applicants in a transparent manner, to the fullest satisfaction of the minority community. The fee charged would be uniform for all students, deleting the categories of free and payment seats. In all colleges under its control, some percentage of seats would be allocated to non-minority students. The fee would be revised normally after every three years. The teaching and non-teaching staff would be appointed as per requirement. The other decisions include constitution of a governing council for each college for day-to-day administration, a selection committee for appointment of staff. It would abide by the rules and regulations on syllabus, teaching and the examinations conducted by the affiliating university and uphold the university's decision.
