Rescue J&K economy: Mufti

By Our Staff Reporter

JAMMU DEC. 14. Putting the State economy back on the rails seems to be the priority of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. In the last month, he has held a series of meeting with prospective investors, and also appealed to captains of Indian industry to rescue the State on the economic front.

Sources said the United States Ambassador to India, Robert Blackwill, during his recent visit to the State, had brought with him members of the corporate world, who, besides meeting the Chief Minister, held discussions with other officials.

Mr. Sayeed has written to business houses, including Reliance, the Tatas, Bajaj, to contribute to the State corpus to help the militancy-affected families. He has also asked them to invest in the State.
