Wisdom award presented to Sudha Murthy

CHENNAI DEC. 14. The Governor, P. S. Ramamohan Rao, today presented the Wisdom Star of India Award 2002 to the Infosys Foundation chairperson, Sudha Murthy. He also conferred the title `Seva Ratna' on Mrs. Murthy for her contribution to computer education, library movement and other spheres of social service. The award was instituted by the bi-lingual Wisdom monthly.

Reading out the certificate of distinction, Mr. Rao said the future of India was in replicating the success stories of personalities such as Azim Premji, Narayana Murthy, Shiv Nadar and the like. He said the country had lost about 40 years while pursuing a policy of equality. ``No two persons can be equal, but a superior being should feel humble and give a part of his resource should be dedicated to the less-privileged'', the Governor said.

Mrs. Murthy commended the organisers' efforts to identify excellence in every walk of life, like bus conductor, auto rickshaw driver and homeopathy doctor, and said it would spur others to put their best foot forward in life.

The retired Judge of the Supreme Court, S. Natarajan, the Wisdom group editor, Govinda Rao, award recipient `Poornam' Viswanathan and the Anna University and Annamalai University Vice-Chancellors, E. Balagurusamy, and L.B. Venkatarangan, participated.
