Shantonu Choudhry is Army Vice-Chief
NEW DELHI
DEC. 14.
Shantonu Choudhry, who headed the Army Training Command in Shimla, was today appointed Vice-Chief of the Army Staff.
J. J. Singh, who is now the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of One Corps, a Defence Ministry spokesman said, will replace Lt. Gen. Choudhry at the ATC. They will take over their respective posts on January 1, he said.
Commissioned in 1963 in the Regiment of Artillery, Lt. Gen. Choudhry also commanded the 11 Corps in Jallandhar earlier.
He rose to become the Additional Director General, Military Intelligence during the `Operation Vijay' in Kargil.
