By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI DEC. 14 .Taking yet another initiative to provide better services to Delhiites, the Delhi Transport Corporation today introduced 25 "Ladies Special'' buses on different routes to make commuting safer and easier for women passengers.

The Delhi Transport Minister, Ajay Maken, today flagged off the "Ladies Special'' buses at a function organised at the DTC headquarters at IP Estate. "DTC is committed to the cause of providing better services to the people of the Capital,'' Mr. Maken said and added that keeping in mind the present social scenario, the new service had become all the more important.

``Initially a fleet of 25 buses will be run on the same number of routes on which normal fare will be charged. The buses will operate from almost all directions to provide links to important office complexes, residential areas, market places, railway and bus stations,'' the Minister informed.

The routes on which these special buses will run include Uttam Nagar to Delhi Secretariat (Route number 851), Janakpuri to Shahdara (720), Hari Nagar to Anand Vihar ISBT (73), Mudrika (from GTB Nagar and another from ITO), Outer Mudrika (from Anand Vihar ISBT), Dhaula Kuan to Badarpur (414), Nangloi to Kendriya Terminal (980), Jahangirpuri to Nizamuddin railway station (181), Najafgarh to Delhi Cantonment (783), Trilokpuri to Kamla Market (307), Inderpuri to Vivek Vihar (313), Avantika to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (970) and Shalimar Bagh to Palika Kendra (166).
