Repair and desilting of existing storm water drains would be taken up on Kothandaraman Street, Sundaram Pillai Street and Nehru Nagar Main Road, at a cost of Rs. 10 lakhs, while road relaying would be taken up on three stretches at a cost of over Rs. 14 crores. Besides, construction of 10 public toilets for women at Rs. 20 lakhs, one public convenience at Rs. 3 lakhs and six noon meal centres at a cost of over Rs. 18 lakhs would be taken up. The works were being funded from the Area Development Fund of the R.K.Nagar MLA, P.K. Sekar Babu. The Local Administration Minister, M.C. Sampath, laid the foundation stone for the repair works of a storm water drain at the Kothandaraman Street-Mayor Vasudev Street junction.
