By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Dec. 14. The team from the Centre for Research in Medical Entomology today visited Melarannoor area as part of an entomological study on the incidence of Dengue fever.

A nine-year-old girl from the locality had died of Dengue infection earlier this week.

The team led by B. K. Thyagi collected larvae of the vectors of the disease, Aedes Agypti and Aedes Albopictus genus of mosquitoes.

The team is here as part of an ICMR-commissioned entomological study on Dengue. The team had earlier visited parts of Ernakulam, Kottayam and Idukki for the three-year research programme.

The Health Department held a medical camp for residents of the area. An estimated 549 blood samples were collected for conducting serological examination.
