Edison, New Jersey, Dec. 15. Lauding the contribution of Indian Americans in all walks of American life, the U.S. President, George W. Bush, has said that while their dedication to the democratic process is noteworthy, there is a need to encourage the emergence of a well-defined Indian American political identity. In a message read out at a convention organised by the Indian Forum for Political Education (IAFEP), Mr. Bush praised the contribution of the Indian-Americans in various fields of American life and called for encouraging their participation in local and national politics. ``Your dedication to our democratic process ensures a brighter future for all Americans,'' he said. The Indian Ambassador to the U.S., Lalit Mansingh, said it was time for the Indian American community to move towards the mainstream and to nurture the next generation Indian Americans to be involved in the political process. Almost all speakers at the convention stressed the need for the younger generation of Indian-Americans to join and play an increasingly effective role in the political field, warning that otherwise they would face the risk of being marginalised as a group.
