"The National Security Council and the Counter Terrorism Headquarters (of Israel) approached us (Foreign Ministry) after making an assessment about the possibility of a terror attack taking place on the beaches of Goa during huge celebrations on the New Year's Eve where, we believe, there would be many Israelis," an official said. "Based on this assessment we have conveyed these concerns to the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi and the Israeli Consulate in Mumbai to convey the same to the relevant authorities in India," the official said. "But there is nothing official about sharing this concern" with Indian authorities, he added. In New Delhi, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said there was no confirmation of such reports but all prudent steps would be taken to thwart any such strike. PTI
