Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Delhi court sentencing three out of the four to death sentence and the fourth one to five years imprisonment in the December 13 Parliament attack case has not come a day too soon. It should serve as a lesson to the collaborators who conspire to wage war against their own country.
H.P. Murali,
* * * Sir, The judge has rightly dismissed the plea of the defence counsel for leniency. Your Editorial, `The Parliament attack case' (Dec. 18) compliments the speed with which the case has been concluded. In such cases, speedy action is needed. You have rightly pointed out the delay in the Rajiv Gandhi murder case. Treason and fighting against the country are grave crimes. It is unfortunate that an academic was also an accused besides a couple, revealing their deep aversion to the country. Police have done a tremendous job by unearthing the conspiracy, though some technical slip-ups were there in phone tapping and in not observing the procedures of the POTA.
S. Ramanathan
