18 policemen killed

JAMSHEDPUR DEC. 20 In a major attack by heavily-armed Maoist rebels on a convoy in the Saranda forest at Bitkilsoya in West Singhbum district of Jharkhand, 18 policemen were killed and 20 seriously injured on Thursday.

The Orissa DIG, (Western Range), Sunil Roy, said today from Rourkela that the MCC gunned down 18 Jharkhand policemen and wounded 20 before looting arms and ammunition and setting ablaze 11 vehicles in the convoy in the forest falling under the Manoharpur police station area. — PTI
