Sania to train in U.S.

Hyderabad Dec. 22 India's latest rising talent in tennis Sania Mirza of Andhra Pradesh will be sent to the United States to receive special coaching.

Sania's sponsors `GVK Industries', who were also one of the sponsors of the just concluded 32nd National Games here, will be working out a scheme for Sania, the first Indian girl to have become Asian junior champion, to hone her skills in the US.

Asked about this, Sania, who confirmed that she would be training in the US, said "I don't know how soon it will happen."

Her next engagement will be in a Women's Tennis Association (WTA) event which is to be held here early in 2003 being organised by the Bhoopathis. Before that she will continue to train in the Tennis village.

Sania said the knee injury she had sustained during the Asian championship, braving which she competed in the 32nd National Games, had almost healed.

Asked how she analysed her own game, she said " I have to improve my physical fitness."
