By B. Muralidhar Reddy
At the banquet hosted in honour of the Iranian President, Seyed Mohammad Khatami, Gen. Musharraf accused the BJP-led Government of "cynically encouraging'' communal riots and said "what has happened in Gujarat has finally exposed the myth of Indian secularism.'' He had earlier raked up Gujarat in his U.N. address last November. Gen. Musharraf also accused India of entertaining "hegemonic ambitions'' and said New Delhi's efforts to "impose a military solution on Kashmir and to use coercive diplomacy through concentration of troops on our borders have failed miserably.'' In his reply, Mr. Khatami merely said "we have good relations with both India and Pakistan and we can play an important role in defusing tensions between the two.
