Letters to the Editor
Sir, The action of the Congress in boycotting the swearing in ceremony of the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, lacks grace and political propriety. The reason given as extravaganza which the State's finances cannot afford is unconvincing. The Congress is not known to observe any austerity on such occasions. Very recently, the AICC mela was conducted in Rajasthan spending crores of rupees when several starvation deaths were reported in the State. The Congress should prove that it can be dignified in defeat. M.K.B. Nambiar, Palloor, Mahe
