New Delhi
By Our Staff Reporter
Compared to last year when several cases of terrorist attacks, including the December 13 Parliament attack, were reported from across the Capital, the Delhi Police Commissioner, Radhey Shyam Gupta, was visibly relieved to state that no such incident was reported this year. He said this was achieved due to the high state of alertness maintained by the Special Cell throughout the year and valuable inputs provided by the intelligence agencies. Anti-terrorist operations carried out by the Special Cell this year led to the neutralisation of six Lashkar-e-Taiba militants on three occasions and arrest of 28 terrorists. In an encounter near Humayun Tomb at Hazrat Nizamuddin on May 10, a team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rajbir Singh, gunned down two LeT militants, Abu Bilal and Abu Zabiullah. Abu Bilal was found involved in Red Fort attack two years ago. This encounter was carried out at the instance of three other LeT terrorists -- Sheikh Sajjad, Mehrajuddin Peer and Feroz Ahmed Sheikh -- who were arrested from outside Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station the same day.
