By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD DEC. 28. Three railway contract workers, including a woman, died on the spot and another sustained injuries when the Rajkot Express coming from Vikarabad to Hyderabad hit them while they were working on the tracks at Chittigadda station, near Vikarabad, on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Atugalla Kalamma (32), Pothugalla Raja (28) and Iyyagala Raj (25). A woman worker who sustained fracture on the leg is yet to be identified. According to information reaching here, seven workers were engaged in repairing the track. At 7.30 a.m. a goods train passed the spot on the track adjacent to the one they were working on. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad-bound Rajkot Express came and hit them. It is said that the noise of the Rajkot Express was not audible to them because of the sound of the goods train passing by.

Co-workers and family members rushed to the spot and staged a demonstration demanding compensation.
