Probe into blast ordered

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI DEC. 28. The Municipal Commissioner, Rakesh Mehta, has ordered an inquiry into the blast in the glass factory at Samaipur Badli in North-West Delhi today which claimed nine lives.

Stating that it was the MCD which had given the permission to the factory owner under factory licensing, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's spokesperson said the inquiry would be conducted by the Additional Commissioner (Engineering), V.S. Sharma, who had been asked to submit his report by January 1.

``The Commissioner has warned that any lapses found on the part of MCD officials would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against the guilty,'' the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, the Leader of the House in the MCD, Ram Babu Sharma, and Mr. Mehta visited the blast site and monitored relief operations.
