"It has become emergent that the people should be educated about the threat posed by the so-called cultural nationalism," the JUH working committee said after two-day deliberations, presided over by its president, Maulana Asad Madani. The Jamiat said it was unfortunate that there was no force in sight to challenge the "forces leading the country towards anarchy and civil strife". "To meet the emerging threat, it is essential to unite the minorities and weaker sections. A united front of minorities, Dalits and backward classes is the need of the hour.' The JUH also resolved to expose the campaign against madrasas, launched by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. It said Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of the country. The organisation had laid down a more active role for itself in the affairs of the border State.
