Killings must end for dialogue to start, says Mufti

By Our Staff Reporter

Jammu Dec. 29. The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today emphasised the need for the present phase of killings to end for an unconditional dialogue to start to resolve the Kashmir problem.

Addressing a gathering at Khwas village in Rajouri district of Jammu region, Mr. Sayeed said, "The gun had never solved any problem anywhere and it will not do so in Jammu and Kashmir as well. It has only unleashed misery and made orphans of children and widows of women."

Praising the Centre, he said, "The Central Government's call for talks is for everyone, not me alone; nobody should have objections to it. Everyone should come forward and accept the proposal."

The Mufti visited the remote and hilly village to offer condolences to the family of Pawan Kumar, who was killed by militants recently.
