Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Staff Reporter
Inaugurating the seminar, the Industries Secretary and Keltron managing director, Ajay Kumar, said the extension of the network would be implemented without any investment by Keltron. Calling on internet kiosk owners to utilise the opportunities thrown open by internet technologies, he urged them to serve as a catalyst in the industrial development of the State. Designed as a `Government to People' (G2P) project, e-Srinkhala is aimed at reaching various government services to the masses using information technology. The network will provide a decentralised facility for services like information on various schemes, downloading of applications and online submission for government services, incentives and subsidies. It will also serve as a facilitator for business, trade, industry, financial operations, education and personal services. Online share trading, e-learning, courier services, ticket reservations for railways and theatres are some of the proposed support services. The kiosks will have a special module for counselling of farmers on agricultural practices and information on census and electoral data.
