** Nathan Astle during his knock of 76, became the first Kiwi to aggregate over 1,000 runs against India in LOIs. He becomes the 21st batsman to reach this milestone against India. Astle now has 1029 runs in 22 matches against India. ** V.V.S. Laxman was appearing in the 50th match of his career since his debut in April 1998. He becomes the 33rd Indian to reach this landmark. ** The Astle-Sinclair partnership of 136 failed to better the following record stands for New Zealand 138 between Astle and Fleming against India for the 2nd wicket at Colombo (SSC) on 2-8-2001 and also New Zealand's all time best for the second wicket by just six runs. The 141 between Matthew Bell and Sinclair against Sri Lanka at Sharjah on 17-4-2001 still remains the best. ** Javagal Srinath's three wickets has taken his career tally to 288 in 213 matches.Australian Shane Warne also has 288 wickets (in 191 matches). The only other bowlers with more wickets are: Pakistanis Wasim Akram (490 wickets in 350 matches) & Waqar Younis (409 in 256), Indian Anil Kumble (300 in 236) and Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan (297 in 200). ** The 78 run partnership between Virender Sehwag and Mohammad Kaif was the best partnership for India for any wicket at this venue. The previous best was 66 by Navjot Singh Sidhu and Ajay Jadeja for the first wicket on 25-3-1994. ** Sehwag's 108 was his fourth LOI hundred in 52 matches. He becomes the only second Indian to record a LOI hundred in New Zealand. Rahul Dravid (123 not out at Taupo on 9-1-1999) is the only other Indian batsman to record a three-figure score in New Zealand. ** Brendon McCullum (4 catches + 1 stumping) became the first wicket-keeper in LOIs to have five dismissals against India.
