Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
All vehicles, with or without pollution under check certificates, emitting smoke levels higher than normal levels would be seized by the police, a press release said here. Such vehicles would be taken to the zonal headquarter of the Assistant Commissioner of Police concerned. These vehicles would be sent to a workshop to find out the mechanical defect and they would be released only after the repairs. "The vehicle owner will be liable to pay the fine and also the repair charges to the mechanic,'' the release said. Traffic officials would recommend to the Transport Department for cancellation of fitness certificate of a vehicle, if it is found `unfit.' If examinations reveal that smoke emission levels were high due to adulteration of fuel, the source of adulteration would be traced and persons responsible would be punished.
