The alternative housing, in blocks of one plus one floor, was provided to make way for the new Lakdikapul station on the Nampally-Lingampally section of the Multi-Modal Transport System. The Railways had paid Rs. 1.57 crores to the administration for the rehabilitation process. The demolition, which was taken up on Saturday, was monitored by the Hyderabad Joint Collector, Vani Prasad. The Collector, Rajeshwar Tiwari, said: "We have been involving the residents for the past four months ever since the process of rehabilitation began." The Additional Commissioner (Traffic and Transportation), MCH, P. Ranadhir Reddy, termed it a `successful operation.'
