Jammu & Kashmir
Mr. Qureshi, who hijacked an Indian Airlines plane to Pakistan in 1971, said, "The amalgam leaders have no conscience to observe what has happened to Kashmir... they are doing diagonally opposite of what they are supposed to do. They formed the amalgam to represent the Kashmiris but ended up being stooges of Pakistan." Mr. Qureshi, against whom charges were recently framed by a court, said that the Hurriyat Conference leaders were enjoying luxuries at the cost of the suffering Kashmiris. Asking the people to introspect on the role of the Hurriyat, he said, "Hundreds of people are languishing in jails. Violence has left so many orphans and widows. What has the amalgam done for them?"
