The formal launching of the programme will be done by the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, at a function at Ravindra Bharati on Wednesday morning to be attended by government and Dr Reddy Lab officials. Accordiong to an announcement made to this effect by the Youth Services and Sports Minister, P. Ramulu, at a press conference here on Tuesday, the programme initially will cover three districts -- Ranga Reddy, Medak and Chittoor before being extended to other districts from March. As per the modalities worked out which were explained by the Director for Youth Services, G. Kamal V. Rao, and the Executive Director from Dr Reddy Labs, Nalini Gangadhar, Dr Reddy Labs will meet 25-30 per cent of the programme's cost by way of providing infrastructure at Hyderabad etc, and undertaking training in seven trades, including computer hardware services, IT and enabled services. The Labs will also try for placement slots for the trained hands. To start with, about 1,000 youths in the identified districts aged between 18 and 30 years, will be given the benefit. Mr Ramulu used the occasion to announce continuance of the present scheme of constructing youth hostels all over the State in addition to the ones already existing at Hyderabad, Tirupati, Warangal, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. He asked the District Collectors to identify one to two areas of lands for the purpose so that his department could sanction necessary funds for the construction. As part of state youth festival, there would be competitions in cultural items like fold dance, folk song, one-act play, Bharatanatyam, kathak etc at Hyderabad on January 7 and 8. Seventy-five artistes representing all districts would be selected for participation in national youth festival at Thiruvananthapuram taking place from January 12 to 16. State Youth day would be observed on Janaury 12 marking the birth anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda with a youth rally from Kothapet Crossroads to the Vivekananda statue on the Tank Bund. On the CMEY groups, Mr Ramulu said, most of the targetted 8,945 groups for the year were launched with a capital involvement of Rs 175 crores.
